Many Worlds Over – Charlotte Knaup <\/p>\n Ayoung Kims erste Einzelausstellung in einem deutschen Museum umfasst die letzten Jahre ihrer k\u00fcnstlerischen Praxis. Mithilfe von K\u00fcnstlicher Intelligenz, Virtual Reality, Video, Spielsimulationen, Skulpturen und Klangfunktionen erschafft Kim umfassende fiktive Universen mit eigenen zeitlichen und r\u00e4umlichen Gesetzen. Ihre Arbeiten sind oft durch spekulative Erz\u00e4hlungen miteinander verbunden, die dennoch mit der realen Welt, in der wir leben, in Verbindung stehen. Die Betrachtenden selbst werden zu Mitspielenden, die die Erz\u00e4hlung aus ihrer Perspektive beeinflussen k\u00f6nnen. Kims Protagonist*innen sind Menschen, mythologische Wesen und virtuelle Entit\u00e4ten, die die Grenzen zwischen verschiedenen m\u00f6glichen Realit\u00e4ten \u00fcberschreiten und m\u00f6gliche und unm\u00f6gliche Welten \u00fcber verschiedene Zeiten und R\u00e4ume hinweg aufeinander treffen lassen. \nAyoung Kim\u2019s first solo exhibition in a German museum spans over the most recent years of her artistic practice. Using artificial intelligence, virtual reality, video, game simulations, sculpture and sonic fiction, Kim creates expansive fictional universes with their own temporal and spatial laws. Her works are often linked together by speculative narratives that are still connected to the actual world that we live in. The viewers themselves are transformed into first person players, controlling the narrative from their own point of view. Her subjects are humans, mythological beings and virtual entities who cross the boundaries between different possible realities, making possible and impossible worlds collide across different times and spaces. The exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof does not only enable its audiences to enter Kim\u2019s virtual landscapes but extends those into the museum space where visitors can lose and reencounter themselves over and over again.
\nThis is the tenth in a series of publications accompanying solo exhibitions of contemporary artists at Hamburger Bahnhof \u2013 Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart.
