There are three figures dressed in white, whose masks take the form of stone, the tide, and the geological substratum. They might seem alien or nonhuman, like ghosts, gods, or even the monsters of a superhero film. They are tricksters* who derange the coherence of received systems.

*The trickster, in folklore and religion, typically assumes the shape of a god, goddess, spirit, human, or anthropomorphised figure. It draws on its vast and mysterious knowledge of the world to play tricks or otherwise disobey set conventions.
