Crossings, a short video in a vertical format, traces the escape journey of a young man called Ahmed Askar, a Yemeni martial artist and former national athlete. He was also one of the performers in Porosity Valley 2: Tricksters’ Plot. Askar, tracing his route over a world map on a table, talks about how he travelled from North Yemen to South Yemen after the outbreak of war, then on to Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Malaysia before eventually coming to South Korea through Jeju Island in summer 2018. Juxtaposed against the foregoing is casual video footage of roads, landscapes, and an airport landing strip, shot by another Yemeni man who escaped Yemen to Germany. The footage was shot on a mobile phone in a low resolution while he was on the road. The imminent urgency of fleeing the war becomes rather estranged in the mundane footage taken by mobile devices.

세로 비율, 3분 분량의 짧은 영상으로, 예멘의 국가대표 격투기 선수였던 아흐메드 아스카의 고단했던 피난 여정을 더듬는다. 그는 2019년 <다공성 계곡 2: 트릭스터 플롯>에 출연한 세 사람의 퍼포머 중 하나이기도 하다. 그는 책상 위에 펼쳐진 세계지도를 짚어 가며, 어떻게 2018년 예멘전쟁을 피해 북예멘에서 남예멘으로 이동했는지, 어떻게 사우디아라비아, 수단, 말레이시아를 거쳐 제주도를 통해 한국에 입항했는지의 여정과 동선을 보여주고 들려준다. 영상은 또한 또다른 예멘인 남성이 예멘을 탈출해 독일에 다다르기까지의 여정을 핸드폰으로 틈틈이 촬영한 푸티지를 담고 있는데, 창밖 도로와 자연의 풍경이라든가 활주로에 착륙한 비행기의 모습과 같은 것들이다. 피난의 도정이 지닌 절박함은 낮은 화질로 기록된 지극히 일상적이고 느긋해 보이는 영상 조각들 속에서 조금 낯설어진다.
